Being a Muslim mother, I like sharing what I do on a daily basis. Although I may sound repetitive, the aim is to demonstrate how little I vary from the typical stay-at-home parent. By sharing my experiences, I wish to dispel any misconceptions others may have about my beliefs. When people see a hijabi, I want them to understand that we are not a danger to anyone. We're simply living our normal lives and giving God praise. A large audience, not just other Muslim women, is something else I'd want to see happen (though I do love and appreciate the support). Again, the reason is that I want to expose others to my life in order to dispel preconceptions, but I also want to promote more diversity. The idea that only Muslims would subscribe to my stuff defies logic. I'm a mother who shares information about parenthood; I'm not a preacher. Having said that, I also follow folks from all different backgrounds. Therefore it baffles me when individuals refuse to read or listen to my stuff based only on their religious beliefs.
