Once upon a time, there was a crazy, bullheaded... ahem... I mean a crazy, bull-riding farmer and a health fanatic gal who loved the land. Fast forward: we married in the coolest surf place in California (Mavericks Bay). Who knew that a marriage between a country boy and a wannabe triathlon tree-hugger would result in the best energy bar ever? Colleen and Grant are our names. A farmer and a wannabe athlete mom. We fell in love with a big idea: to use our jobs, interests, and crazy ideas to make the world a better place. I was studying how to train for triathlons (I had KONA in my fantasies!) and it went something like this: First and foremost, learn to swim. Check. Second, learn how to fall off a road bike while wearing toe clips. Check in half. Finally, run like a banshee. Check. I began consuming energy bars as I learned more about how to fuel my body for performance and recovery. As my training progressed, I discovered that standard energy bars were not particularly appealing. There's a lot of high fructose corn syrup, cheap vitamins, and strange aftertastes. Sick.
