In 2017, Mel was diagnosed with breast cancer, and lives were forever changed.

Mel was left with significant neuropathy in her hands and feet after a grueling year of therapy, which made life difficult when she had children to dress. Chris looked far and wide for entertaining projects that Mel could do to take her mind off her therapy and teach her fingers to overcome the long-term effects of neuropathy.
